Charles Hoskinson and Ethereum dev get into a war of words post-Vasil upgrade

Charles Hoskinson was the founder of Cardano, and also co-founder of Ethereum. They had a heated exchange of words about the implementation of the proof of stake (PoS), consensus via the Ethereum Merge.

Web3 investor Evan Van Ness argued that the Ethereum Merge could not have been shipped sooner on Sunday. Vitalik Buterin (co-founder of Ethereum) agreed with Van Ness’s comments. He said that they should have implemented a NXT-like chain-based PoS consensus.

Hoskinson also joined the conversation and stated that Ethereum developers should have implemented Snow White protocol in order to facilitate a quicker migration to PoS.

With Elaine’s assistance, you should have implemented snow white. This would have saved you so much pain and effort.

Hoskinson’s long-standing support for Snow White protocol is one of the first to provide formal, end-to-end proofs of security for PoS systems. Hoskinson’s reply opened up a whole new world of possibilities, which led to heated discussions between Van Ness and Cardano founder, as well as other Ethereum developers.

Hoskinson stated that his ideas about technical upgrades to the Ethereum network in 2014 still hold up better than the Ethereum network’s post-merge upgrade. Van Ness quickly reminded Hoskinson of the fact that he was fired within six months from Ethereum because of his poor conduct and inability to make any technical contributions.

Hoskinson had earlier on Monday accused Ethereum developers of not paying attention to Ouroboros, a PoS blockchain that is secure and based on peer reviewed research. Hoskinson also claimed that the PoS upgrade to include custodial stake is a bad design.

Hudson Jameson, an Ethereum core developer, called out Hoskinson for his claims about the Ouroboros protocol implementation. He said that Ethereum developers disliked Cardano because of his “attitudes and actions as Cardano’s face.”

Charles must have forgotten about his Reddit history, and how much he shite on Ethereum while he was building Cardano. Vitalik also reviewed Ouroboros quite a while back. Because of your actions and attitude as Cardano’s face, Ethereum developers aren’t going to be looking at Cardano.

Jameson reminded Hoskinson about his treatment of Ethereum Classic and asked him to stop playing the victim.

Hoskinson is well-known for his opinions on his previous project and the ongoing war of words between these two communities. The recent exchange between the two blockchain communities highlights the disconnection between them, despite both blockchains currently undergoing major upgrades to their networks.
